10.14.11

First appointment today was working on Robyn's tall ship.  I love tattooing tall ships and this one is getting done at a fairly good pace, which is awesome.

Second appointment was finishing touch ups on Amy's back.  She shouldn't have gotten something so small for her first tattoo, right?  Amy was super committed,  super excited and had a great energy every time I tattooed her.  She made the commitment right from day one to come in once a month to ensure her tattoo was completed in a timely manner.  Perfect client.

Touch up day today.  Started putting the finishing touches on Amy's deer.
The sunsets have been unreal the last few weeks....

7.8.11

Remembered the memory card today, so here's yesterday's doings.  This is Samantha's first tattoo.   Pretty epic, both in size and subject matter.  Peonies and a junebug, so awesome.  She wasn't super happy towards the end, so I just grey lined most of the bug.  We'll go back and reline those areas next time.
Today, finished the "first pass" of Amy's deer.  We'll go back and do touch ups in about a month or so.  I'm thinking I'll also add a drop shadow under the finger waves so they pop a bit more.  Always a crazy day when you finish a big tattoo... I can tell you that Amy sure was happy!  Finishing your backpiece is definitely a major accomplishment.
Second appointment today was shading out the background of Morgan's 1/2 sleeve.   Super fun shading out clouds and wind bars.  Excited to work on this again in a few weeks.

6.9.11

Back at the studio tattooing today.  I cleaned the hell out of the shop to start the day off.  It's always nice to start the work week in a nice, clean environment.  It takes me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to clean the shop top to bottom.

First appointment was working on Amy's deer.  I shaded out the antlers and part of the neck/body.  It's nice to see this coming along quickly now.
Afternoon appointment was starting to cover up an old rose with tribal on Shalyn's leg.  Sore spot, sat like a champ.

5.11.11

Worked on Amy's deer for a couple of hours today... well... actually to be a bit more accurate we coloured the water and tall grass...
I've been biking to work most days now... about 45mins to bike the 13km one way...it's super fun but it leaves me tired by the end of the day, but a good tired.  The kind of tired you feel when your body is actually doing something physical... not the kind of tired you feel when you're lazy and inactive, like I felt most of this past winter....

3.24.11

I've just spent 2 hours answering as many emails as possible and want nothing more than to get off this computer asap.

Today at the studio, Amy's deer backpiece.  We finished back end of the deer which happens to be on her ribs, which is an area I'm sure Amy is super happy to be finished with.  Then we jumped over and worked on the head of the deer for a bit.  It's coming together pretty quick now.  Super tough girl and getting lots done in 3 hour appointments.  Pretty awesome.

2.21.11

First appointment today was working on Amy's back. Felt pretty bad because that deer's tail must have hurt quite a bit. Here ribs got a bit too sore to finish the whole area, so we worked on a bit of the grass in the middle of her back at the end of the session. She's killing it- never been tattooed before this, sits like a champ, still smiling and joking around when she's obviously in pain, and getting tattooed every 3 weeks. Nice work Amy.That's all... I'm tired and going to bed. Tomorrow- sleep, catching up on emails, finishing flash

2.3.11

It was brought to my attention today that the dates I'm using in the subject line for the blog are wrong. Apparently day-month-year is the proper way, I was doing month-day-year. Sorry.

(Update- Steve has now informed me that day-month-year IS the right way, I'm not changing anything. This post has now been fixed.)

Either way, worked on Amy's back to day for just over 3hrs. Super fun once again. One or two more sittings and it will really start to take shape.

1.13.11

Today I started the first colour/shading session on Amy's Deer. Super fun, she sits amazing considering her first tattoo is a backpiece. Simon set me up with this amazing tattoo last time he was out visiting. Thanks again Simon!
